Abstract
The problem with the WSN system is the availability of resources when the system
is in a remote area. For this reason, alternative energy sources are needed for the
WSN system. Several studies discuss various alternative energy sources used for
WSN systems. Solar energy-based energy harvesting is often used as an alternative
energy source in WSN systems. In sensor networks there are various problems
with path connectivity, such as routing, clustering and coverage-awareness
problems. To optimize the use of alternative energy by utilizing solar and wind
light sources, in this final project the Covarage Awareness method is applied. By
using the Covarage Awareness method, in this technique the sensor will measure
the sensing capability of the node and build a relationship between several target
points and the sensor node. Coverage-Awareness locates nodes from different
locations. The main problem is the strong Covarage-Awareness connectivity
between sensor nodes. Therefore, a sensor node placement simulation was carried
out using the Firefly Algorithm in the Coverage Awareness method from random
location placement conditions to optimal placement.
